Brand-New Revised Design
The Expedition was long overdue for a face-lift. The 2022 SUV received a serious overhaul in the interior and exterior styling departments. The new grill commands the road, while the interior cabin has an all-new dashboard design that is similar to the new Ford F-150. You also get more comfortable materials throughout the interior, a state-of-the-art infotainment system, and hands-free highway driving technology. The Stealth Performance Package on the Limited trim level gives the front-end an even more devilish appearance, upgrades to a sport-tuned suspension, and boosts the twin-turbo V-6 engine with more power. There are six unique trim levels to look at, each with its own styling and options:
- XL
- XLT
- Limited
- Timberline
- King Ranch
- Platinum
Engine and Performance Options
The standard engine option on the 2022 Ford Expedition is actually anything but standard. A 3.5L V-6 powers the Ford SUV paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and rear- or all-wheel drive. The base engine makes 380 horsepower with 470 lb.-ft. of torque. Selecting the Limited model buffs the horses to 400 with 480 lb.-ft. torque. The EcoBoost twin-turbocharged V-6 is rated for 17 mpg city and 23 mpg highway.
The Timberline trim and Limited with the Stealth Performance package even further boost the engine capabilities – up to 440 horsepower and 510 lb.-ft. torque.
All models have independent rear suspension, which helps you glide effortlessly on- and off-road. The handling has also been improved due to the new suspension.
The 2022 Expedition can now tow up to 9,300 lbs.
Interior Comfort, Storage, and Infotainment
The new Expedition is commanded by an oversized infotainment touch screen. Top trim levels receive leather upholstery, massaging front seats, and more. The spacious interior provides enough room for even adults in the third row to be comfortable. The middle row comes standard with a three-seat bench that can be customized to captain’s chairs. Nothing in this vehicle’s class will beat the Expedition’s storage and cargo area. With power-folding third-row seats that can be controlled from the cargo area and back seats, you’ll be able to store everything you need and more, whether you’re heading around town, running errands, or going on a long camping trip.
