Which Midsize SUV is Right for Me?

Ford has paved the way for versatility in SUVs. They have several SUVs in their lineup, varying in sizes, price points, features, power, and more.

The Ford Edge and Ford Escape are both great vehicles that provide you with a wide variety of features and storage options in competitively-priced packages. At V&H Auto, we’re going over the similarities and differences between these two SUVs to better help potential buyers throughout Marshfield make the best decision. When you’re ready, visit our Marshfield Ford dealership to meet with our team and take your Edge or Escape for a test drive.

Size Overview

The Ford Edge is a midsize crossover SUV. It can seat up to five passengers and shares the platform with familiar Ford vehicles, such as the Ford Fusion and the Lincoln MKX, Mazda 6, and Mazda CX-9. The Edge offers more passenger and cargo space. If you plan on driving longer distances with more passengers or going on long road trips where you will need more luggage, the Edge gets the nod.

The Ford Escape has a bit more of an athletic design. It is a compact SUV that is better suited for seating four adults but can accommodate five passengers. It shares platforms with the Ford Maverick, Bronco Sport, and Lincoln Corsair. The Escape also has ample passenger and cargo space but sacrifices some space to save on design, making them more nimble of the Ford SUVs.

Infotainment Capabilities

The Ford Escape comes standard with a 4.2″ infotainment display screen that can be upgraded to a larger 8″ touchscreen. The larger display runs on Ford’s Sync3 system, which provides you with plenty of features, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Additionally, you may choose to upgrade the digital instrument cluster to a 12.3” screen with built-in navigation and a heads-up display.

The Edge has an oversized 12” touchscreen infotainment display commanding the dashboard. It operates via Ford Sync 4A operating system. Features include:

  • Apple CarPlay
  • Android Auto
  • Wi-Fi Hotspot
  • Built-In Navigation

Safety Features

Ford takes great pride in creating safe, innovative vehicles to protect passengers. Both the Edge and the Escape come with a wide variety of safety features powered by Ford Co-Pilot 360 technology. They include:

  • Lane Centering
